Building a Solid Structure Through Rolfing with Rey Allen – 2-8-14

February 11, 2014

Rolfers believe that like all other material structures, the human body submits to the basic laws of physics. When we are out of balance, gravity that drags us down, just as it drags down a building that has lost its architectural integrity.  As we move through life and are forced to compensate for injuries, physical or emotional traumas, work habits or habitual activities, the soft tissues in our bodies lose their elasticity. Over time, our bodies get molded into a set shape that prevents us from standing, moving, sitting, or even resting comfortably or efficiently.

Rolfing  accomplishes its  results through a set of ten specific goals designed to open and balance the whole body. This is  known as “The Rolfing Ten Series.” Through refined and intelligent pressure applied by a Certified Rolfer, specific areas of the body are carefully manipulated to release areas where the body is restricted.  The “Series” is administered progressively; each session builds upon the last until complete integration of the structure is achieved. The sole purpose of Rolfing is to bring order to structure, and it is through the accomplishment of that purpose the function of the whole person is enhanced.

Aromatherapy and Sound Healing with Sandra Bachman – 2-1-14

February 9, 2014

Our five senses play an important role in our health and living a full life.  This week we’ll be exploring two different types of healing that work with two of the senses to bring health into balance:  aromatherapy and sound healing.

Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.  The inhaled aroma from these “essential” oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Aromatherapy is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.

Sound Healing, through various techniques and technologies, is the educated and conscious use of the energy of sound to promote wellness in the human system – including the expansion of consciousness. Sound Healing is founded on the premise that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies.  There are a wide range of techniques that utilize sound as a tool for change. The most common and basic use of sound is for meditation and relaxation. Chanting, toning and overtone singing are some of the most powerful methods for resonating sound throughout the body. The use of nature sounds and natural instruments, such as crystal bowls and tuning forks, have specific healing frequencies and harmonics. Listening to one’s own root frequency enables an individual to create a more centered and grounded awareness within their life.
